“Quick Reference Guide” from Continental / GLIT when deciding which floor pad to use for your specific cleaning job.
All Glit®/Microtron floor pads from Continental are made with 100% recycled fiber. The level of aggressiveness that is required for your need is also determined by the maintenance procedure, the cleaning chemical, and the powered equipment being used.
This “Quick Chart” provides a great overview of which colored pad to use for various applications, floor types and equipment being used.
There are some instances that one type of pad can be used across several applications.
As an example, the Glit/Microtron Red Spray Buffing pad can be used for cleaning resilient floors such as VCT, VAT, and sheet vinyl, as well as non-resilient floors such as terrazzo and granite. The red pad can also be used for spray buffing of those same surfaces if using a standard speed floor machine (175-350 R.P.M.)
Glit/Microtron pads with Open Web Design allows dirt to pass from the bottom of the floor pad to the top. This helps reduce surface load and build-up, with an end result of a longer lasting pad. It also speeds up cleaning time, as the design permits faster cleaning under running water.
Other noted advantages of the Open Web Design are:
- Increases efficiency by holding more stripper or cleaning solution
- Prevents the machine from bottoming out as it cushions it better
- Better maintains constant contact with uneven floors
Lastly, Glit reminds professionals that floor pads are not the only factor in great floor maintenance. The chemicals, the equipment, the user experience, and the floor itself are all components to consider for floor maintenance.
