As they remark, “The Formica website warns us, DO NOT use cleaners nor compounds containing strong acids or strong bases on laminate surfaces. These may mar, etch, corrode and/or permanently discolor or damage laminate surfaces.”
However, they do have a recommendation. Try masking the damage by applying lemon oil or self-stripping waxes.
